Music is one of life’s greatest pleasures and is a fantastic vehicle for creative expression. As well as providing a foundation for future musical education, early interaction also provides many benefits for child’s development, from aiding language acquisition, to enhancing to social and social development. In this way music indirectly prepares children for life…in the most enjoyable of ways!
Our children just love to sing and dance and they really look forward to their music classes each week. Our music teacher Julie always has something interesting in store for them and the sight of her magical music box is a constant source of excitement! Under the guidance of Julie and her puppet assistant ‘JayJay’, the children learn fun new songs and actions, through a range play based activities. They also explore rhythm and sound, with the help of array of instruments from Julie’s magic music box.
Julie’s own interest in music emerged during her childhood and she spent many hours composing her own songs and performing for her family. After graduating from secondary school, she went on to study at Newpark Music College Dublin & graduated with a H-Dip in Music & Media Technologies from Trinity College. A career as a jazz performer followed and this took Julie around Ireland and beyond. While performing in Berlin, Julie began working as a music teacher in a local kindergarten and a passion for teaching children was ignited. For the following three years she facilitated music workshops for children, introducing them to different aspects of music and song.
Julie loves working with children of all ages and enabling them to develop their musical ability. Music is a fantastic outlet for self-expression and she enjoys watching the children as they become absorbed in song and dance. This type of engagement is therapeutic for busy little minds and so music has a hugely positive impact on a child’s well-being.
Peep into our rooms during music time and you will see first-hand what we mean…Julie’s class always set the day off on a great ‘note’!
