Reggio Emilia

Reggio Emilio is a small town in Northern Italy where the teaching for children under six years is renowned worldwide.

The approach requires children to be seen as competent, resourceful, curious, imaginative, innovative and possessing a desire to interact and communicate with others.

The Park Academy team adopted this child-directed curriculum while on a training course in Reggio as their beliefs and those in Reggio encouraged independence required in today's child.

One of the most exciting aspects of the Reggio Emilia approach is its emphasis on collaborative art projects, especially using natural and recycled materials. In this way, the environment itself becomes another teacher – one that will stay with the child for life. Our ‘Creation Stations’ are consciously created to embrace this vital aspect of the Reggio Emilia approach.
